Job Description
  • Responsibilities:


  • The COO will be a visible model of leadership, managerial excellence, and integrity, and will be responsible for the following:


    Building a world-class team


  • This position reports to the CEO and will lead a team of initially six direct reports, including the VP of Operations, VP of Global Sourcing and VP of IT
  • Ensure the selection, retention, and development of A-players and the upgrade of talent, where necessary, and to provide ongoing leadership, oversight, coaching, and feedback to subordinates
  • Set performance goals with direct reports and monitor ongoing performance
  • Lay out targets that are aggressive but achievable
  • In keeping with the company's current culture and environment, ensure ongoing commitment and drive towards a culture of excellence, accountability and execution, while retaining an open, honest and enjoyable workplace
  • Be willing to roll up the sleeves and be a player-coach
  • Motivate and energize the organization to deliver on its mission
  • Help to break down barriers and silos, while working collaboratively in a team environment

    Drive Operational Excellence


  • Develop and implement a manufacturing footprint strategy to optimise/rationalise current and future production requirements
  • The overall plan will include detailed analysis of existing facility and operations utilisation, assessment of contract manufacturing partnerships, evaluate in-house versus out-sourcing strategies, low cost manufacturing capabilities, equipment upgrades, single piece flow and manufacturing excellence
  • Create and execute lean, just-in-time manufacturing strategies to increase productivity, efficiency, and inventory turns while executing perfect quality
  • Play a lead role in acquisition integration; expected to lead manufacturing, sourcing and engineering integration, overseeing the operational integration, including plant rationalisation, if necessary
  • Maintain quality and environmental certifications (ISO9001 and ISO14001) while developing other supporting strategies and processes as such as lean process tool development to support the global business
  • Drive the communication of best practices between product development, project management/technical service, engineering, and manufacturing to improve new product launch process, working collaboratively with the Finance, Sales & Marketing team
  • Develop and implement the manufacturing operations road-map and cost control plan
  • Reduce working capital by improving inventory utilisation and reducing DSO
  • Identify, communicate, and drive implementation of capital investments and improvement projects
  • Promote safe work practices and drive improvement in safety metrics


    ,Partner with the senior team on the continued development and implementation of the growth strategy for the business


  • Proactively influence the organization to drive results that meet performance objectives
  • Drive growth organically by taking advantage of demand in the market and driving costs out of the system to build or maintain the dominant market position
  • Bring the executive presence required to assist in closing deals (both business development and M&A)
  • Help to develop the strategic plan and initiative tracking to accelerate growth and meet financial targets


  • Create the plan, with the broader management team, that lays out key initiatives and objectives to achieve growth and target return
  • In-still continual refinement of plan on monthly, quarterly, and annual basis as new opportunities and challenges arise
  • Develop processes that fosters bottoms-up feedback from employees, customers, suppliers, etc
  • on new ideas on growth, EBITDA and capital efficiency
  • Ensure growth happens wisely and efficiently with regard to the expense budget
  • Maintain the company's lean internal operations
  • Lead organizational performance to new levels both to support growth
  • initiatives, and also to identify opportunities for process improvement

  • Clearly communicate accurate targets, milestones, strategy, and financial results and enlist support and consensus
  • Partner with the CEO and the executive team to position company for exit


  • Build a differentiated platform that is a "must-own" asset for potential acquirers
  • Have a clear vision for ongoing future growth opportunities (organic and inorganic) and a history of execution against plans
  • Work with CEO and PE Group to determine best path to position the company for exit in 3-4 years or less



    Job Requirements

    Qualifications:

  • An MBA with undergraduate technical degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or similar is preferred

    Experience

  • Experience in Private Equity backed portfolio companies executing on organic growth, add-on mergers and acquisitions as well as successful completion of a sale transaction is preferred
  • 15+ years experience with progressive leadership responsibility
  • 20+ years executive leadership within the industrial manufacturing space with engineered products experience preferred
  • Strong lean experience preferred
  • Multi-site facility experience required
  • Global operations experience preferred
  • Ability to travel 50% of the time
