  • We are working with a leading international luxury retail business
  • The Company has built a strong reputation for design, based on its own in-house collection and through ranges developed in collaboration with iconic designers


  • They are the global leader in their sector which puts them in a position to significantly outperform their competitors
  • It is an interesting time to be in the business with investment being made in the showrooms, in the digital space and in the people


  • With the future growth plans comes the need to ensure the people agenda is prioritised and modernised through a newly created Director of HR position
  • They are seeking someone who can champion the people agenda across the India, Singapore and UAE


  • The foundations are in place but a review of this is needed and improvements can be made to the day to day HR operational elements
  • The next phase for their HR evolution would be for the new Director of HR to add further value to the business by improving training, ensuring recruitment is more strategic, leading on engagement, reviewing company benefits, ensuring new locations are a success and embedding a culture of people development


  • It is also vital the new Director of HR is able to act strategically and lead the business through this change management process
  • This is a key role for the business and it is essential the new incumbent brings energy and new ideas fit for this entrepreneurial environment


    Responsibilities



  • Play an active business partner role to both the CEO and senior management team, contributing strategically to ensure the people plan is aligned to contribute successfully to the business agenda
  • Oversee the management of the HR function, including motivate, mentor and develop the team of two HR Assistants (Singapore and UAE)
  • Consistently review and assess the effectiveness of the HR function by developing, maintaining and evolving systems, processes and policies in line with the business and statutory requirements
  • Ensure talent is attracted, retained and developed to deliver great results through building an effective global recruitment process to ensure consistency, developing a robust talent development strategy and improving engagement within the business
  • Drive a culture of high performance and engagement across the organisation
  • Drive continuous improvement of people processes and organisational development
  • Lead on annual pay reviews, salary benchmarking and payroll with the assistance of the HR Assistant
  • Review all benefits available to the business
  • Encourage and maintain optimum employee relations by undertaking all necessary consultation and negotiations as required and by ensuring the effective communication of company policies
  • Facilitate internal organisational change
  • Identify management development needs, creating and implementing development and training plans by using the annual process of HR reviews and appraisals


    The Candidate


  • The new Director of HR will have a full generalist background with the experience to build on the foundations in place, lead on culture change and drive the modernisation of the function


    Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience


  • Highly motivated HR professional with a strong generalist background across all facets of HR
  • Lead, manage, develop and motivate a team
  • Hands on operational delivery whilst also ensuring the longer term strategic aims of the business are met
  • Ability to drive change and influence
  • Commercially minded with excellent attention to detail and outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Whilst open on background, candidates currently working in a retail or luxury environment will have a distinct advantage; as will those with international experience
  • This is a great opportunity for either a stretch candidate keen to take on their first true leadership position or an experienced Director of HR taking a sideways step into a fresh environment
  • Educated to degree level with the Certification qualification, but this is not prescriptive as relevant experience and track record are of greater importance
